Four GA4 / GSC gap types
🚫 Not in GSC — GA4 records organic sessions, but GSC shows zero impressions for this URL. This is the most critical case. Possible reasons: (1) the page has a noindex tag or is blocked in robots.txt; (2) the URL differs from what Google indexed (canonical issue); (3) the subdomain or path isn't included in your GSC property; (4) GA4 misattribution — direct traffic incorrectly labeled as Organic Search. Check the page via GSC URL Inspection before drawing conclusions.
🔄 Attribution Suspect — GA4 sessions to GSC clicks ratio exceeds 5:1. If GSC shows 100 clicks but GA4 shows 600 sessions, the difference can't be explained by SEO alone. Most likely, some direct or referral traffic without UTM parameters is landing in GA4 under the "Organic Search" label. Check the referral exclusion list in GA4 and UTM tagging on incoming campaigns.
👁️ Coverage Gap — GSC sees the page but very weakly: fewer than 20 impressions for the period. GA4 shows real sessions regardless. Possible explanations: old backlinks generating direct referrals outside of standard search impressions, or the page ranks at position 50+ for low-volume queries.
👻 Invisible — GSC shows the page at position 30+ with zero clicks, but GA4 has sessions. The traffic doesn't come from organic search in the standard sense, or these are sessions from cached/previously bookmarked pages.
Why pages with key events but no GSC impressions come first
The tool prioritises pages that have GA4 key events but no impressions in the selected GSC property. The discrepancy may come from indexation, canonicalisation, a different GSC property, or GA4 attribution.
Open the page from the table, then verify its canonical URL and URL Inspection status. Only that check can distinguish a technical SEO problem from a measurement mismatch.
