How to prepare a GSC dataset for analysis

Select a property, date range and dimensions. For query analysis, query is usually enough; for query-page pairs, choose query, page; for daily trends, add date. The CSV can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI or loaded into Python.

Why the Search Console interface does not show all your data

The Search Console web interface caps exports at a thousand rows per report. On a large site that means the long tail of queries never reaches your analysis — and with it, most of the real growth opportunities.

The Search Console API has no such cap: data can be pulled page by page across queries, pages, countries and devices. That is how you build a data set fit for spreadsheets, BigQuery or Python.

Before analysing, check freshness and coverage: GSC data arrives with a delay and some rows are withheld because rare queries are filtered out. Skip that check and any period comparison can mislead you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I export more than 1000 rows from Search Console?
Through the Search Console API with pagination. That is exactly how this tool works: it pulls the data in pages and assembles a complete CSV for the period and dimensions you choose.
Why do export numbers differ from the interface?
Because of different dimension sets and the filtering of rare queries. The sum of clicks by query is almost always lower than total clicks: some queries are hidden to protect privacy.
How far back does the data go?
Google keeps performance data for roughly the last 16 months, so historical data sets are worth exporting on a schedule rather than when you suddenly need them.
Where can I load the data set next?
The CSV opens in Excel and Google Sheets and suits BigQuery, Looker Studio or Python processing. The format is deliberately plain so you can join it with GA4 or business data.
