- Connect Google Search Console and select your site.
- Set the current and comparison date ranges — or use the quick presets (7d / 28d / 90d) which auto-fill both periods.
- For Google update analysis, click one of the Update presets (Mar'25, Nov'24, etc.) — it sets the period before the update vs after.
- Click "Compare Periods" — the tool shows winners (≥20% click growth), losers (≥20% drop), new entrants and dropped pages.
- Switch between tabs, filter by URL, and sort by click delta or position change.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the winner/loser threshold ±20%?
The 20% threshold filters out GSC data noise. Changes within ±20% may be random fluctuation, seasonality, or data lag. A winner is a page with ≥20% click growth in the current period vs the comparison period — a meaningful signal of real improvement.
What does "Dropped" mean?
A dropped page appeared in GSC data during the comparison period but not in the current period. Likely causes: de-indexation, a redirect being added, the page being deleted, or clicks dropping below the minimum impressions threshold. Check dropped pages in GSC URL Auditor.
How do the Google Update presets work?
Clicking an update preset sets the current period to the 30 days AFTER the update completed, and the comparison period to the 30 days BEFORE the update started. This gives a clean before/after view without overlap with the update rollout window itself.
