Prioritizing SEO Fixes

๐Ÿ—๏ธ
Alex looks at 200 issues
"Screaming Frog found 200 issues. The developer says: 'This will take 3 months.' But if you prioritize correctly โ€” the critical 10 issues can be fixed in a week, and they'll deliver 80% of the results."
๐Ÿ“Œ Prioritizing SEO fixes โ€” sorting found issues by their potential impact on traffic and the effort required to fix them.

Priority Matrix

PriorityCriterionExamples
๐Ÿ”ด CriticalBlocks indexationnoindex on homepage, site in robots.txt
๐ŸŸ  HighLarge traffic potentialBroken links, redirect chains, duplicates
๐ŸŸก MediumNoticeable CTR/UX impactMissing meta descriptions, weak H1s
๐ŸŸข LowMinor improvementsAlt attributes, minor technical issues

Impact vs Effort Formula

For each issue, rate on a scale of 1โ€“5:

  • Impact (traffic effect) โ€” how much will traffic grow if fixed?
  • Effort (resources needed) โ€” how much time/work is required?

Priority = Impact รท Effort. High Impact + Low Effort = fix first!

๐ŸŽฏ Pareto rule in SEO: 20% of issues cause 80% of traffic loss. Find and fix those 20% first.
๐ŸŽฎ Test yourself: match each issue type to its fix priority.
