Signs of Toxic Links
- Links from spam sites, casino, pharma topics
- Large numbers of links with the same commercial anchor text
- Links appeared suddenly (hundreds in one day)
- Donor domain DR close to 0
- Donor page topic unrelated to your site
Backlink Audit Process
- Export all links from Ahrefs/Semrush + GSC
- Filter by DR < 10, spam score, niche mismatch
- Compile a list of toxic domains
- Try to contact site owners for removal
- Upload a disavow file via GSC for the rest
Disavow file is a last resort. Use only if:
